How to: whimsical mushroom garland

Step 1: Gather your items

  • 1 bag of clementines

  • 1 small paint brush

  • 1 detail paint brush

  • hot glue gun

  • sticks cut into small pieces

  • red & white paint (or any colors you have!)

  • “copper” or “rust” colored ribbon

  • hook eyes *found at Hobby Lobby or on Amazon

Step 2: Prep your items

  • Cut your clementines in half and scoop out the inside (we made amazing orange juice out of ours!)

  • Place your clementines on a baking sheet and dry them in the oven at a low temp for up to 8 hours

  • Cut your twigs into 1.5-inch pieces

  • Cut your ribbon to the desired length of your garland

Step 3: Assemble your mushrooms

  • Once the clementines are completely dried, paint them with one coat of red paint.

  • Use the detail brush to paint small white circles all around the “mushroom.”

  • Once the mushroom is completely dry, heat your hot glue gun.

  • Screw in your hook eyes onto the top of the twigs.

  • Cut a hole in the top of your mushrooms and stick the hook through the top of the clementine. Use the hot glue gun to secure the twig on the underside of the clementine.

  • Once dry, string all of your mushrooms onto the ribbon and you have your garland!

  • You can also add dried oranges, branches, or anything you like to make your garland even more festive.
